All the above units can be had with a modem for remote location polling.
Fingerprint readers cannot be used to match government records; there is
no risk.
Fingerprint readers are not nearly as reliable and Hand Punch.
You can’t buddy punch on either system, it’s simply impossible.

Biometrics’ benefits
Biometric technology is the most secure for an unattended environment,
that is, where a third party does not observe each time individuals must
authenticate their user identities.
Fingerprint scanning. As the oldest biometric technology in use, it
tends to be more readily accepted by personnel. Unlike the fingerprint
taken by the police or military, this is a template of about 25 to 30
points that can be used in a one-to-one authentication of an individual
rather than the one-to-many identification used by police The template
can’t be used to reverse-engineer the individual’s full fingerprint. As
a result, individual privacy issues are not a concern.
Iris scanning. This is the most accurate biometric technology.
About 250 points are captured to create the template for each person.
The iris does not change during an individual’s life, which contributes
to the accuracy of the method. Although often confused with retina
scanning that is shown in popular movies, iris recognition is nowhere
near as invasive. During iris scanning, a person positions his eye about
18 in. to 24 in. from the camera, whereas during retina scanning the eye
is right against the camera. The technology has proved to be valuable in
those areas in which an employee wears gloves, as well as in controlled
areas such as a Class I, Div. II environment, where the individual wears
full-body protective gear, a hood and, in many cases, safety glasses
under the hood. Time America supports Iris scanning; we are a Time
America reseller. Currently (2005) the Iris Scanners retail for about
$9,000.00
Biometrics has suffered from the perception that it won’t work
consistently in the harsh environment of a manufacturing facility. This
simply is not true. The cost of the technology has raised additional
concerns. However, both fingerprint and iris technologies are in their
third generation and costs have fallen dramatically. IDC estimates that
help desk costs to support password systems now cost $300 per user per
year. This approximates the investment for fingerprint technology. Iris
cameras cost more than fingerprint readers, making the iris approach
more expensive where installation at every desk is necessary. However,
in many instances, iris recognition is used in a shared workstation
environment or where the required dress makes fingerprint identification
difficult or impossible.

the unique size and shape of their hands. For small companies, the
HandPunch 1000 provides a quick return on investment by eliminating the
cost associated with administrating and managing cards. For companies
that have small multiple locations, minimal supervision leaves
opportunity for buddy punching and time fraud. With the HandPunch 1000

reducing payroll costs and increasing the company's bottom line.
Pay as you grow
Designed to grow with your business, the user capacity of the HandPunch
1000 can be easily expanded in the field. Standard user memory provides
for up to 50 employees with expandability to grow to 512 users.
Hand Geometry Technology
The HandPunch 1000 uses RSI's field-proven hand geometry biometrics
technology. The terminal captures a three-dimensional image of the hand
each time the employee punches. The hand's size and the shape are used
to verify their identity with unparalleled accuracy. No fingerprints or
palm prints are utilized. Green and red lights notify the employee of
the status of each punch. There's no question any more; employees have
to be there to punch.
Small Enterprise Solution
The HandPunch 1000 provides a new solution for companies with 50
employees or less per terminal or location. The HandPunch 1000 terminal
allows for collection of in and out punches plus allows easy
connectivity to any time and attendance application. With the HandPunch
1000 small companies no longer need to worry about lost timecards,
making new cards, or employees punching for another employee.
Pay for only what you need
The HandPunch 1000 comes standard with user capacity for 50 users. As
your business grows, so can the user capacity of the HandPunch 1000.
Memory upgrades are available to expand to 100 or even up to 512 users.

• The ability to connect multiple units at a single site
Recognition Systems, Inc. now brings the accuracy and convenience of
biometric technology easily within reach of most time and attendance
applications. In operations that range from coal mines to clean rooms,
RSI systems have proven themselves to be a practical and precise
solution. Our terminals are so affordable, it doesn't make sense to
consider any other technology.
Smarter than card-based terminals
There are no cards to create, administer, carry -- or lose. The
HandPunch verifies employees' identities in less than one second, based
on the unique size and shape of their hands. HandPunch clearly notifies
each user of a match using red and green indicator lights. Because no
one can punch in or out for your employees, the system reduces time
theft and improves payroll accuracy.
Versatile and Programmable
Beyond a simple time clock, the HandPunch 3000 provides definable
function keys that allow data collection when employees punch. The
systems transmit data to the time and attendance host PC through a
variety of options.
The HandPunch 3000 uses RSI's field-proven hand geometry biometric
Programmable Function Keys
The HandPunch 3000 has two user-definable function keys that let you
collect data as employees punch. Common uses include department
transfers, tips collected, job codes, or pay codes. Multi-level data
entry sequences may be defined. You can also set the function keys to
allow employees to review their past punches. To reduce keystrokes, the
keys can also be set to automatically enter data such as a frequently
used department number or in/out status.
Communication Options
The HandPunch 3000, designed for larger networked installations, allows
multiple units to be connected at a site via RS-485 wiring, an optional
Ethernet module, or dial-up modem.
Edit-at-the-Clock Functions
The HandPunch 3000 allows supervisors to override user restrictions and
to input such items as missed punches, planned vacations, sick time,
etc. The password-protected mode provides greater supervisor flexibility
by lessening the need for computer edits. Audit trails documenting the
use of these functions are generated to ensure security.
Bell Schedules
The bell schedule lets you program the day, time, and duration of a
series of bells. The bells can be programmed to signal the beginning or
end of a shift, lunch, or break.
Door Control
The HandPunch 3000 provides the capability to unlock and monitor a door.
Global time zones may be used to restrict employee access.

Unitime Systems’ New Benefits Manager™ Automatically Tracks Employee
Paid-Time-Off Benefits
Benefits calculated as part of the company’s daily time and attendance
tracking
BOULDER CO, February 10, 2005: Unitime Systems, Inc., has launched a new
feature for its UNITIME Automated Timekeeping System™ that automatically
calculates and tracks employee paid-time-off benefits as part of the
manufacturer’s daily time and attendance tracking. Benefits Manager™
tracks vacation, sick leave, personal time and other benefit-hour
accruals within the day-to-day workflow of time and attendance, thus
ensuring accuracy and allowing administrators to devote time to more
productive tasks.
Because Benefits Manager is fully integrated within the latest version
of UNITIME, companies can avoid the extra step of importing benefit-hour
accruals from separate payroll or human resources programs. They thus
avoid “silos” or “islands” of data that must be separately managed and
periodically synchronized.
FULLY CUSTOMIZABLE
Companies can customize Benefits Manager to accommodate their unique
benefits policies according to types of benefits, employee
classifications, time periods and other variables. Benefits Manager will
track an unlimited number of benefit types (beyond the standard
vacation, paid time off, sick leave, etc.); each benefit type can
accommodate separate policies for individual classifications of
employees (i.e., full- or part-time). Each policy also can be customized
for multiple periods or time frames.
“Calculating and tracking employees’ paid-time-off benefits typically is
a complicated and time-consuming endeavor,” said Doug Peterman, Unitime
Systems president. “Benefits Manager dramatically reduces the time that
administrators must spend on that process—in essence, giving them
additional hours each month that they can devote to more important
tasks.”
